In a relentless pursuit of justice, the HAWKS have arrested five additional suspects in Lephalale this past Friday, bringing the total to sixteen individuals implicated in a driving licence scandal set to face justice in Limpopo courts tomorrow, February 10, 2025.
This latest operation, carried out alongside the Road Traffic Management Corporation, highlights a growing crackdown on fraudulent activities within the driving licence system. The newly arrested suspects include key figures like a Management Representative (supervisor), drivers' licence examiners, administration clerks, and even driving school instructors—all crucial roles in the issuance of lawful driving permits.
Also making headlines are seven suspects previously arrested in December 2019, connected to the Mutale Driving Licence Testing Centre in Thohoyandou. These individuals—ME Khangale, T Tshikalange, R Rammenu, KS Netshimboni, MB Matsila, MJ Netshizwi, and PM Mudau—are facing grave charges of fraud and corruption. They remain out on bail of R10,000 each as their trial at Giyani Commercial Crime Court approaches.
Recent investigations revealed that bogus driver's licences were being sold for as much as R8,600 per applicant, igniting community outrage over these corrupt practices. The Road Traffic Management Corporation, in collaboration with the HAWKS, has been tirelessly working to bring those involved to justice.
The state is expected to conclude its case this week, and further arrests could be on the horizon! 🚨 If you have tips about fraud, bribery, or corruption, don’t hesitate to reach out confidentially via WhatsApp at (083) 293-7989 or email at ntacu@rtmc.co.za.
