POLOKWANE: The South African Police Service in Limpopo has launched an extensive search for male suspects involved in a series of offenses at a filling station in Bolobedu South under the Mopani District. The incident occurred on Friday, 07 March 2025, at approximately 04:00.

According to reports, police were alerted to an ATM bombing at a local filling station. Upon arrival, they were informed by a Security Guard that an estimated group of eight male suspects had targeted the automated teller machine (ATM) situated between the shops outside the filling station, close to a taxi rank.

During the commission of the crime, two unsuspecting minibus operators, aged 29 and 41, arrived to begin their day. The suspects opened fire on them, resulting in injuries to both individuals, who were subsequently transported to a local hospital and are now in stable condition.

After the incident, the suspects fled the scene in a Quantum minibus with an unknown registration number. An investigation revealed that the ATM was empty, and the perpetrators left the scene with no money. However, several spent cartridges, one piece of ammunition, and one projectile were recovered at the crime scene, and the minibus vehicles sustained damage from the gunfire.

A manhunt for the unknown suspects is currently underway. The police urge anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to contact the Investigating Officer, Colonel Richard Boshomane, at 079 894 5501.

The South African Police Service remains committed to ensuring the safety of our communities and will gather all necessary resources to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime. Your assistance is critical.
