Three Rhino Poachers Sentenced to Lengthy Prison Terms in Limpopo
Three rhino poachers, Kholwani Mwembe, Emmanuel Marombedze, and Stephen Tshoeu, have been handed lengthy prison sentences by the Mahwelereng Regional Court. After pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit rhino poaching, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition, the court sentenced them to 5 years' imprisonment or a fine of R5,000 for the conspiracy charge, 4 years' imprisonment or a fine of R4,000 for the firearm charge, and 2 years' imprisonment or a fine of R2,000 for the ammunition charge.
The sentences will run concurrently. This conviction demonstrates the commitment of the Limpopo police to combating wildlife crime, according to Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe ¹.
